Guide

While having a variety of options is a good thing, sometimes we feel overwhelmed by the array of options. Additionally we understand that many brides are already busy planning and often look to the Internet for inspiration and tips. Thus we’ve compiled a guide to help you choose the right bridal boutique. Whether you decide to go for a ‘one-stop’ or designer bridal boutique, weigh your options and determine which suits you better.

1. Budget

Everything hinges on your budget. Whether you decide to visit a one-stop service or a designer bridal boutique all depends on how much you’re willing to spend.

Before you look anywhere, ask yourselves these questions:

  • Do you want to rent or buy the wedding gown/suit?
  • Do you want a brand new Made-to-Measure (MTM) gown or an Off-the-Rack (OTR) gown?
  • Are you looking to rent accessories from the boutique? Are there any additional costs?
  • Do you want both pre-wedding and actual day photography, or just one of the two?
  • Do you want more photos/hours than the package offers?
  • Do you want an actual day video? Does the boutique offer videography services?

Once you have the answers to the questions, you would know the exact things you require, which would then make the research process a lot easier.

2. Do Your Homework

As mentioned previously, the time taken for research shortens once you have your budget settled. Start looking at boutiques within your budget, and look out for special deals, wedding roadshows or hotel workshops as these events often have special offers, lucky draws and whatnot. Similarly, you can also research on the various wedding gowns silhouettes, suit styles etc to save you time when you start visiting the boutiques later on.

3. ‘One-stop’ vs. Designer

If you’ve been doing your homework, you would know that there are two types of boutiques: the ‘one-stop’ bridal boutiques and designer bridal boutiques.

A ‘one-stop’ boutique provides all the services a bride needs. From bridal and evening gowns to make-up artists, photography and even flower bouquets, these boutiques make it convenient for brides who do not wish to deal with too many vendors. On the other hand, a designer boutique focuses mainly on the wedding gowns and may offer limited services as compared to a one-stop service boutique.

Neither is better than the other, it just depends on your budget and what you’re looking for. If you’re looking for a hassle-free solution, ‘one-stop’ bridal boutiques are for you. However if you’re looking for a wedding gown that it created just for you, a designer bridal boutique is more suited for you.

Nonetheless, do also take note that some ‘one-stop’ boutiques also offer Made-to-Measure gowns. That means that not only do you get a wedding gown created just for you, you get all the accompanied services too!

4. How’s The Service?

One important thing to take note of is the service of the boutique. When you’re visiting the boutiques, do not hesitate to clarify any doubts. If there’s something in the package that you’re unsure of, ask! A professional vendor would be patient in answering your questions and make sure that you understand what you’re signing up for.

5. Check Everything

During your visit to the boutiques, be sure to ask if they have a wide range of wedding and evening gowns for you to choose from. Ultimately, you must like what you see.

Note: Some bridal boutiques do not include their premium range into their packages, which means that you would have to end up paying additional costs if you decide to go with a premium gown.

6. Portfolio Please

As mentioned previously, a ‘one-stop’ bridal boutique offers multiple services, so be sure to request for work samples from the respective vendors. If they have more than one photographer and make-up artist, ask to view the works of each individual person as this also gives you a better idea whether or not they fit your style.

7. Check References

Even if the bridal boutique meets all your criterias, do not commit just yet! Ask around and search for reviews on the Internet and keep in mind that best works are put into portfolios while real referrals from satisfied clients are harder to fake.

By the way, La Belle Couture is a one-stop service bridal boutique which focuses on delivering a hassle and stress free experience to all couples! For more information, have a look at our services here.
