aIn our previous post in this series, we spoke about some bridal gown necklines that don’t just look pretty by themselves – they actually look perfect on the wearer as well. All our bodies are shaped differently according to various factors. Bone structure, height and also mostly on the number of cupcakes you allow yourself to indulge in are some of those responsible. But, nothing should get in the way of looking your best self on the wedding day.
Which is why, we’re talking about some features of the gown that you can customize or pick from, to work best on your body type. After all, the bridal gown is supposed to fit you, not change you.
In today’s post, we talk about the bridal gown necklines that are ever so simple and easily available in all budgets. We also address those that suit your unique body type to hide what’s less than perfect and to flaunt what you love. Read on to see what we have for you.
Bridal Gown Necklines – 4. The Scoop Neck
Style – Elegant, Youthful
Celeb spotted on – Marilyn Monroe
The scoop neck style is a deeply curved neckline that shows off the collarbone and décolleté region. Both of these are very attractive parts in a woman’s body. If you want to show some skin, but not show off the goods – this neckline is a great safe option that’s also church friendly.
Choose this if – A flattering neckline in the bridal gown that shows off your neck and collarbone area and takes the focus off the shoulders is what you’re looking for. Broad shouldered girls will love how complimentary this style is for their figure.
Not so great if – You are very heavy chested! With the shape of the neckline, it might show off more than you have asked for…which might not be a pleasing sight. If a scoop bridal gown neckline is a feature you want, you can go for the same style of the neckline but with a higher dip!

Bridal Gowns Necklines – 5. The High Collar
Style – Modest, Victorian, Romantic
Celeb spotted on – Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly
The high collar style was a complete rage in the golden age of Hollywood. Major style icons like Audrey Hepburn and royalty like Grace Kelly wore this style at their weddings. It then further escalated the most-wanted status amongst the varied bridal gown necklines! More recently, Priyanka Jonas wore this at her palace wedding too, firmly establishing the style’s relevancy in 2019.

Most brides who choose this style prefer a sheer bodice or one with lace and then opaque coverage near the bust area. This prevents the monotony of a single fabric being used in the top part of the dress. Furthermore, it does away with the bulk that using a stiff fabric right from the neck downwards might do, to a full-length wedding dress or bridal gown.
Choose this style if: You love this style and you’ve been drooling over it for ages, of course! But, this style is a no-no if you have a thick or short neck. It will only further shorten your silhouette instead of flattering it
Bridal gowns with the high collar would look better on brides who are less endowed. Due to the “wrapping effect”, it might make the bust engorged. This would, especially, not look flattering in wedding photos!

Bridal Gowns Necklines – 6. The Illusion Neckline
Style – Modern, Pinterest worthy, Insta-friendly
Celeb spotted on – Ivanka Trump, Kate Upton
The illusion neckline is a versatile style that’s been popular in recent times. It will also continue to make its mark across international and local wedding gown brands. Using sheer fabrics, it often makes the neckline appear non-existent. Most bridal gowns with the illusion necklines feature lace cutouts for a defined look that’s worthy of an Oscar red carpet.
One can style this bridal gown neckline in so many ways depending on how experimental one wants to be!
Choose this style if : You’ve been lusting after the Ellie Saab and Marchesa designs flaunted by celebs. You want to wear a wedding dress inspired by these styles on your wedding day. This bridal gown neckline generally looks great on most brides!
